SIRE HAD MARCUS MILLER AT “QUALITY GUITARS FOR GREAT PRICE POINT” WHILE HE HAD SIRE AT “ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION”
In most Miller’s interviews for SIRE, he would never fail to mention that many parents would come to him asking for an advice about a bass they could let their children play to begin with. They were talking about a bass guitar that is not too expensive but the quality is still there because they are open to the reality that the interests of kids, most especially of today’s, are so vast and rando. Today, they could like playing musical instruments, the next day, Play Station or something else. So, that was what he remembered when the concept of what SIRE guitars are gonna be was first precept of what SIRE guitars are gonna be was first presented to him in his own words, “really good quality basses for not a lot of money.” As a veteran bass player, he knows that good basses could really be expensive. And, it appealed to him that he could put his name on these guitars because his and SIRE’s goals met halfway.
MAKING AN IMPACT
MAKING AN IMPACT
Could it be that with great talent comes also the great responsibility to not let the knowledge and ability remain in you but rather there is a need to pass them on? Marcus Miller is best known as a bassist though he’s also dubbed as multi-instrumentalist because of his added skills at playing the guitar, trumpet, piano, etc. He has worked and killed it with the also great music legends, trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Herbie Hancock, singer Luther Vandross, and saxophonist David Sanborn, among others. So, Miller having joined SIRE really created a big impact to the brand. As a matter of fact, he has been with other more popular brands for almost 20 years, but he still agreed to get his name associated with start-up company because of the above mentioned purpose. Big thanks to him for showing the bass playing community that it is possible to start playing quality guitars without having to break their savings.
HE SAW IT. HE HEARD IT. HE FELT IT. NOW, HE IS WITH IT.
HE SAW IT. HE HEARD IT. HE FELT IT. NOW, HE IS WITH IT.
The SIRE team showed the prototypes to him the first time they met in Japan several years ago. Miller liked it at that very instance and even proposed to send his guitars also for the producers to get his actual tone, feel and other preferences in a bass guitar. Miller also knew at that moment that these guitars are not gonna be high-priced but he knew whom these are gonna be made for: for the ambitious, for the dreamers, for the music lovers-maybe skilled or maybe beginners, for the old and specially for the next generation- basically for all who’d like to experience joy in making music. SIRE and Marcus Miller agreed that the guitars should be affordable but should not compromise quality.
Many musicians would have the talents and resources to make their dream work but it is the reason that keeps the heart beating. Basically, that’s how the SIRE- Miller relationship began.
